Saturday Night Live's 60 Biggest Rock Moments

$

Everyone probably watches Saturday Night Live, sometimes because a certain person is on there or because of the guest musician or whatever. Here are 60 of the Biggest SNL Rock Moments, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. I might not put all of them because that would be too much on the eyes.
Paul McCartney: 2/13/1993
-He guested on SNL four times. This is a nod to an episode in Season 18 for two major reasons: 1.) His incredibly touching take on "Hey Jude" and 2.) he was comedic during "The Chris Farley Show" sketch
Queen: 9/25/1982
-This is shocking to all, I'm sure. This was the final live performance by Queen with Freddie Mercury. The band had taken the stage, but Mercury had blown his voice out after having a heated argument with his partner the previous night. To quote a Queen song, "You Can't Stop Me" were the perfect choice of words for the band as they blazed through a blistering set, including "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" with the more mellow "Under Pressure". The parts that were supposed to be sung by David Bowie were actually sung by drummer Roger Taylor
The Rolling Stones: 10/7/1978
-They were pulling major double duty here, acting as both host and musical guest. Despite appearing in two sketches that night, they still rocked out hard. They played some music from their then-released album Some Girls, which included "Beast of Burden", "Shattered", "Respectable".
Aerosmith: 2/17/1990
-Wayne's World, before it was a two-movie smash hit, got its start on Saturday Night Live. Mike Myers and Dana Carvey played two heavy-metal fans and friends who ran a live music television show called Wayne's World in the basement of Wayne's mom's house in suburban Aurora, Illinois. On this particular episode, Garth's cousin Barry, played by Tom Hanks, is a roadie with Aerosmith. He convinces Aerosmith to appear and appear they do! During their skit, they play a hard rock version of the Wayne's World theme song. But later when Aerosmith does their musical guest duties, they blaze through "Janie's Got a Gun" and "Monkey on My Back".
AC/DC: 3/18/2000
-Here's one band I bet you never thought you would hear or see here. That's right, AC/DC took the SNL stage in 2000. Despite the band forming in 1973 and SNL premiering two years later, this band went more than 25 years without coming up to play. They playing an explosive set, including "You Shook Me All Night Long" and the title track from their 2000 album Stiff Upper Lip
David Bowie: 12/15/1979
-This is one image that I am sure will shock you: David Bowie in a dress and heels!! His SNL set was considered to be the strangest one of all. Backup singers said to look like aliens while a robotic pink poodle walks around. Strangest of all is singer David Bowie wearing a button-up dress and heels, while singing "TVC15" and "Boys Keep Swinging". Of course, all the strangeness is what makes David Bowie, well David Bowie
Elton John with Johnny Cash: 4/17/1982
-Two stars at different points in their careers. Cash was seemingly on his way out while John was seemingly on his way in. Their dual appearance on SNL was said to be a sort-of passing of the torch, from one generation to the next. In a polite nod of respect to Cash, who was the host that evening, John wore cowboy-inspired attire during his performances. Of course, Cash did the same thing for John, nodding respect to the younger rocker by wearing a pink feather boa, sequined robe and gaudy eyeglasses
Bon Jovi: 1/9/1993
-Two months prior to Bon Jovi's appearance on SNL, their album, Keep the Faith, had been released. During their set, the first song played was "Bed of Roses" from their recently released album. And, of course, "Wanted Dead or Alive" was played. The comedic part is that Bon Jovi appeared in several sketches that night
George Harrison: 11/20/1976
-It's been a long running gag that SNL producer Lorne Michaels bribed the Beatles $3000 to do a reunion on the show. It must have worked, somewhat. George Harrison appeared on the show during episode 8, season 2. The show opened with George arguing with Michaels over money. The "quiet Beatle" was the music guest that night and he performed a beautiful, almost tear-jerking rendition of "Here Comes the Sun" and "Homeward Bound"
The Clash: 10/9/1982
-Their 1982 album, Combat Rock, had been released that year. And any chance to promote the music, the band was probably going to take. Since the album was inspired by the aftermath and fall out of the Vietnam War, this feeling was driven home by the veteran London punk rockers by wearing combat fatigues. Their first song "Straight to Hell" kicked off their performance in addition to Joe Strummer looking like Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver with his mohawk. Guitarist Mick Jones, however, provided lead vocals on their trademark track "Should I Stay or Should I Go"
Foo Fighters: 4/9/2011
-Singer Paul Simon had a record with SNL, probably for appearing multiple times. Dave Grohl is the only musician who could easily break that. Grohl has 13 appearances under his name for SNL. He performed such songs as "Rope", "Walk". His sense of comedy knows no bounds, however as he performed through the "Bongo's Clown Room" sketch as his hair was slicked back into a ponytail to play a strip-club announcer
Metallica: 12/6/1997
-They were probably the loudest band SNL has seen or heard. Originally, they were supposed to appear for the first time in 1987, but vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield suffered a wrist injury, forcing the band to cancel. Meanwhile, ten years later, the band was able to appear, playing "Fuel" and "The Memory Remains".
U2: 11/20/2004
-They were there in support of their eleventh studio album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. They blazed through "Vertigo", "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own". And, of course, the band did their comedy sketches. But during their musical set, they also played "I Will Follow", which made SNL album Amy Poehler cry like a teenager at her first concert
Sting: 1/19/1991
-Take a close look at this picture. At first glance, it might look like Billy Idol, but it's not Billy Idol. Look at the face? Can you guess who it really is? If not, it's Sting. He has appeared on SNL four times, but his most memorable time to date was in 1991. He did double duty that night, acting as both host and musical guest. He seems to have a reputation for taking himself too seriously. On this night, however, he convinced all who watched that he does know how to loosen up and be comedic. One skit showed him being stuck in an elevator with Kevin Nealon and Dana Carvey, both of whom are fans of Sting as they attempt to sing (poorly) some of Sting's songs. The most iconic sketch that night was when Sting delivered an extremely detail-accurate impression of British punk rocker Billy Idol in a sketch called "The McLaughlin Group". During his musical set, he started with "All This Time" and ended with "Purple Haze", which showed everyone he can rock out no matter what.
Billy Idol: 1/28/1994
-Now this picture is the REAL Billy Idol. Of course, the clothing you see him wearing here is what he wore during his explosive musical set, which included "Rebel Yell" and "White Wedding"
Mick Jagger with Special Guests: 5/19/2012
-For the season 12 finale, Mick Jagger was asked to be the host. He made sure it went out well and went out with a bang. He was joined by Arcade Fire and Nikolai Fraiture of The Strokes for a rendition of the Rolling Stones song "The Last Time" while Foo Fighters joined him for "19th Nervous Breakdown" and "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)". Guitarist Jeff Beck joined him for "Tea Party", an old blues song. His musical set included "She's a Rainbow" and "Ruby Tuesday"

Robert Plant: 12/15/1984
-In 1981, Led Zeppelin had effectively broken up. Front man Robert Plant aspired to create a band with a heavy blues-based sound. He certainly did just that with his band the Honeydrippers. They were out touring in support of their debut album, Volume One. Two of the songs included in their set was "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and "Rockin' at Midnight" by Roy Brown
Rod Stewart: 5/13/1995
-Recently inducted into the famed Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this legendary singer played both old and new songs, including "Leave Virginia Alone". He also included a fan favorite, "Maggie May" and he moved around the stage as if he were young again
Green Day: 12/3/1994
-Dookie was released eleven months prior to Green Day's appearance on SNL. This album was pivotal in the career of the Bay Area punk rockers because it introduced the world to this band, whose entire list of songs on the album reference teenage angst, masturbation, fart jokes and more. They played "When I Come Around" and "Geek Stink Breath". Billie Joe Armstrong accidentally said the word "shit" and it was missed by the censors. In reruns, it would be cut out
Linkin Park: 5/12/2007
-There's a first time for everything. And it was Linkin Park's first SNL appearance. They blew the roof off the 30 Rock studio, playing through recently created songs like "What I've Done" and "Bleed It Out". Both songs have a haunting melody that gives you chills and their performance was the biggest of the 2000-era acts

This is one movie I've seen dozens of times, lol
Summary
-Bill and Jo Harding are storm chasers in the process of divorcing. When they learn of an extremely lethal storm system moving through the Midwest, they team up to create a highly advanced warning system to alert everyone to these potentially violent tornadoes

Cast
-Bill Paxton: Bill Harding
-Helen Hunt: Dr. Jo Harding
-Cary Elwes: Dr. Jona Miller
-Jami Gertz: Dr. Melissa Reeves
-Phillip Seymour Hoffman: Dustin Davis
-Lois Smith: Meg Greene
-Alan Ruck: Robert "Rabbit" Nurick
-Sean Whalen: Allen Sanders
-Scott Thompson: Jason "Preacher" Rowe
-Todd Field: Tim "Beltzer" Lewis
-Joey Slotnick: Joey
-Wendie Josepher: Haynes
-Jeremy Davies: Laurence
-Zach Grenier: Eddie

Did You Know?
-When actor Bill Paxton died, Spotter Network had asked 200 storm chasers to spell out "BP" with their GPS tracker blips on a radar display to honor his passing.

-Filming was temporarily suspended in Oklahoma due to the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, OK on April 19,1995. The crew went to help out with recovery effort

-The sound of the tornado was created a slowed-down camel moan

-It's said to be an urban legend, but when this movie was playing at a drive-in theatre in Stoney Creek, Ontario, a tornado struck. In reality, it was a tornado striking a drive-in theatre in Thorold, Ontario on May 20, 1996. It damaged the screen. The movie was not playing when the tornado struck, but was scheduled to play later that evening

-The town that gets destroyed here, Wakita, is an actual town in Oklahoma. Part of the downtown business district area had been destroyed by the film crew to replicate the after effects of the tornado passing. Afterwards, the studio paid to rebuild the downtown area. As for the fire truck seen here, the town kept it
-To create some of the wind, a jet engine from a Boeing 707 was used

-The instrument package used by the storm chasers, "Dorothy" is a tribute to the real instrument pack, dubbed "T.O.T.O" used by real storm chasers to leave in the path of a tornado

-Whenever there's a news report shown in the movie, the newscasters being shown are actual weathermen from Oklahoma news stations. They include Gary England, who's a chief meteorologist at KWTV in Oklahoma City and Rick Mitchell, chief meteorologist at KOCO in Oklahoma City. The footage of Gary England giving a televised tornado warning in "1969" to Jo's family is actually archived footage of him giving a tornado warning. He didn't join KWTV until 1972

-This movie only took 95 days to film

-To make the skies look like pre-tornado conditions, the scenes inside the truck cab were flooded with high-intensity lighting. Because of this, Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton suffered minor retinal burns throughout much of the movie

-Some of the considerations for the role of Bill Harding included Tom Hanks, Kurt Russell and Michael Keaton. They all lost out to Bill Paxton, who was said to, according to director James Cameron, to have a "southern every man charm"

-The siren that Dorothy releases is a combination of a standard police, fire and ambulance siren control head. These control heads have various modes including yelp, siren and phaser. The sound was used later for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. That same sound was used when chasing a Toyota Tundra. It was created accidentally for that movie but intentionally for this movie.
-The base camp for the storm chasers was a pig farm. Each morning, the cast and crew woke up to the smell of a 2-acre pig waste holding pond

-When Bill's truck gets stuck on a tree, the oil tanker that pushes him out of the way says "Benthic Petroleum". This is the name of the oil company Ed Harris works for in The Abyss. Ed Harris had attended the University of Oklahoma, where he majored in theatre and also where the National Severe Storms Laboratory is located

-Lois Smith, who plays Aunt Meg, is seen reading Dante Alighieri's Dante's Inferno when the twister hits Wakita. In the story, a tornado hits in the Second Circle of Hell to punish people ruined by Lust

-Jan de Bont, a producer on the film, stated he hated the scene where everyone is at Aunt Meg's house eating steak and eggs because he is vegetarian

-With Jan de Bont being a fan of Tori Amos, he had asked that some of her music be used in the film

-The instrumental playing at the end is called "Respect the Wind" and it was written and performed by Eddie and Alex Van Halen

-The first music video playing in Dusty's van is "Motherless Child" by Eric Clapton. Later it's "Child in Time" by Deep Purple. This song is not only playing loudly on his loudspeakers, but the video playing it as well is from the 1974 California Jam (CalJam) Festival in Ontario, California. This is from the Glenn Hughes/David Coverdale era where the band had taken the stage ahead of the time they were supposed to and Ritchie Blackmore, already infuriated at everything running ahead of schedule and not to his particular liking, was further incensed by a camera getting to close to him on his right side. He stuck his guitar head through the camera, destroying it, as a warning to back off

-The ironic thing is that as the team heads out to chase after a tornado, Dusty starts playing "Child in Time" by Deep Purple on his loudspeakers. The video footage, however, was at the California Jam Festival on April 6, 1974. Deep Purple did not play "Child in Time" during their gig there. The song was performed by Ian Gillan, who was not with the band at the time.
-During the initial scenes of the movie, which were supposed to be 1969, the weatherman states the tornado could be as high as an F-5. The Fujita Scale, which measures the intensity of tornadoes, was not invented until 1972

IDK why, but the song "Two Minutes to Midnight" was stuck in my head typing that, rofl!!

That's right! It's exactly two weeks until legendary British metallers Iron Maiden come to the city I live in, Cincinnati, OH and rock out loud and proud at Riverbend Music Center. I AM SO EXCITED!!!! What makes this night special, however, is that I'll be attending my first Iron Maiden concert with mi familia in tow-my mother Brenda, my stepdad Greg and sister Jessica, aka Jessie, as we call her. It will be all our first time seeing Maiden. If you know me like my parents do, I like trying to take my parents and sister to as many concerts as we can before my parents leave this earthly plane. Man, I am going to do sooooooooooooo much damage to my bank account at the souvenir booth, rofl!!! I'll be coming home with my arms loaded with Maiden gear!!

So, here are some random photos of the band behind "Up the Irons"!

Where Were These Rockstars At When the Moon Landing Occurred?

$

0
Everyone knows that it was recently the anniversary of the Moon Landing, 7/20/1969. At Ultimate Classic Rock, they asked 50 rockstars where they were when the famous event occurred. Here is what 50 rockstars said they were doing and where they were when it happened. I'm not going to include all 50 rockstars because that would be too much to read, too hard on the eyes and simply overkill. If you want to read the whole list, I have provided a link to it, like always

The Beatles
-They were working on what would become Abbey Road. They were busy watching a rough cut of the film "Let It Be".
Elvis Presley
-His career was sagging, but after appearing on TV in 1968, that gave his career a much needed boost. A recently built casino in Las Vegas, the International Hotel, had saddled up $500,000 for a four-week residency for The King. He was recording at RCA Studios in Hollywood when the moon landing occurred.
Led Zeppelin
-Led Zeppelin was rocking out hard, loud and proud in Cleveland when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. The soon-to-be-legendary band was on their debut album tour and while touring, they were also working on material for future albums. In fact, the day of the moon landing, 7/20/1969, is when they were performing in Cleveland, Ohio
The Doors
-Soft Parade had proved itself to be a successful album for the 60s-era rockers. It appeared on 7/18/1969. This album, probably like most bands, was recorded around the band's extremely exhausting, punishing tour schedule. The band was in LA at the time of the moon landing. And as a surprise to all, Jim Morrison took a rain check on songwriting for the album.
ZZ Top
-The veteran Texas blues rockers were only in opening-band status at the time. They were still struggling to get a name for themselves. The then lineup consisted of frontman/guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist Lanier Greig and drummer Dan Mitchell. They had released one single so far and as history would say it, the other two were quickly replaced by Frank Beard and Dusty Hill. While Billy Gibbons didn't watch the moon landing, he did watch B.B. King taking the stage at the International Jazz Festival in Houston
Black Sabbath
-Despite the fact the 1969 is the year Black Sabbath was born from the dark, gloomy industrial atmosphere of Aston, Birmingham, England, the band was still struggling to get off the ground. They had, by this point, abandoned their 12-bar blues sound in favor of a more malevolent sound, the early rumblings of what would later become known as doom metal. Prior to adopting the name Black Sabbath and writing themselves into the heavy metal history book, the band was gigging around England under the moniker Earth. They quickly adopted the name Black Sabbath after a Boris Karloff film
Genesis
-This is one of those bands that should have a revolving door on members. By 1970, Phil Collins was already installed on drums. Prior to guitarist Steve Hackett joining, he was at a concert at the time of the moon landing. He was at the Marquee in London watching King Crimson play and was handed a note to Greg Lake which said the Americans have landed on the moon
David Bowie
-For starters it would be shocking not to see him on here. Especially considering one of his most famous songs is "Space Oddity". This song was inspired by the Stanley Kubrick film 2001: A Space Odyssey. He recorded the song in July 1969. When the BBC aired footage of the moon landing, they used this song as it had been released on July 11, a little over a week before the landing
Santana
-This is a day to remember! Carlos Santana turned 22 the day Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. He was in the midst of a concert in his band's hometown of San Francisco and celebrated both his birthday and the moon landing
The Who
-While Neil Armstrong was landing on the moon, proclaiming "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind", another Moon was making headway in Hastings, England. The second "Moon" being referenced is Who drummer Keith Moon. The band was performing at the Hastings Pier Ballroom on July 20, 1969.
Alice Cooper
-He describes 1969 as being a crazy year. Just weeks prior to the moon landing, he had released his debut album. He told UCR "Everybody sat there and it was just such a startling thing to actually think that we could do that. And I’m a firm believer that we actually did. I don’t actually believe that it was set up in a studio. But it was so cool. It was just one of those cool, proud American moments that we did that. I think that was a pure patriotic moment. Everybody could kind of look around at each other and go, 'Yeah, we did that. We landed on the Moon.' And who knew what was going to come from there? [After that,] we just figured, 'Well, they’re going to go to Mars tomorrow! [Laughs.]"
Deep Purple
-The legendary hard rockers were awaiting their third LP, Deep Purple, to be released in the UK whereas it had already been released to much success in the US. Once again, this band is one of those revolving-door bands because of its frequent changes in lineup, which each would be lovingly referred to "Mark I" or so on and so forth. By this point, bassist Nick Simper and vocalist Rod Evans had gone, only to be replaced by vocalist Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover. The two newbies made their stage debut on July 10 and the band performed at Mothers in Birmingham the night of the moon landing. Ironically enough, the band would go on to write a song called "Space Truckin'"
James Taylor
-He had some serious highs and serious lows in his career. He was the first American artist to be signed to the Beatles' Apple Records label. He was, at the time, fighting a serious drug addiction and struggling to get clean. July 20, 1969 marked a good time for him. He appeared at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island. 15 minutes into his set, festival creator George Wein had announced Neil Armstrong had landed on the moon.
Heart
-The Wilson sisters, Ann and Nancy, were quite some time off from joining the band Heart. 1969 marked them as only just beginning in the music world. Ann was only 19 at the time of the moon landing. They had been performing at mostly family events, church functions and local parties
The Rolling Stones
-Their world was crashing and burning. With the recent death of guitarist/founding member Brian Jones, the band had brought in guitarist Mick Taylor and had performed a concert in London's Hyde Park. Hundreds of white butterflies were released into the air as a tribute to Brian. The guitarist's funeral was on July 10, but front man Mick Jagger was unable to attend as he had a prior commitment. He was in Australia, filming the movie Ned Kelly. While in New South Wales, Australia, the moon landing occurred and Jagger wrote one of the more successful songs for the Stones, "Brown Sugar"
Sammy Hagar
-Hagar been recording music as early as 1967. He released two singles then, "Reach Out to Find Me" and "Ready My Thoughts". The songs were credited to Samson & Hagar, one of many bands the singer/guitarist would run through. Even though he didn't witness the moon landing, he, ironically, would write and record a song with his later band Montrose called "Space Station #5"
Kiss
-With something like this, you know Kiss has to make an appearance. And why not? They have a resident loves-everything-about-space-and-sci fi- member of the band. When the historic moon landing occurred, future Kiss member and future Spaceman Ace Frehley was still in high school. Ace told UCR "“I remember my teacher rolling in a black-and-white TV so the whole class could watch the monumental event. It seemed almost surreal it was happening in 1969! An unbelievable event to watch! It took my breath away!"
Motley Crue
-When the moon landing happened, the one member of the Crue that was busiest was guitarist Mick Mars. He was 18 at the time and still going by his birth name of Robert Alan Deal. He had already performed in several bands, including one called The Jades which did Beatles covers. Bassist Nikki Sixx was 10 at the time and saw it on TV. That told him that the impossible is always possible.
Queen
-Smile is the band that morphed into Queen. 1969 was a good year for them. The band, consisting of singer Tim Staffell, drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May, had been gigging around London with a strong fanbase. On the day of the landing, May was at Roger Taylor's house. May had told AARP Magazine in 2019 "That night, we watched this tiny little screen on the Taylors’ TV and were all clustered around, What I remember most is that my dad was wrong. He was a pretty talented electronics engineer during and after World War II. Three years before Apollo 11, he said, ‘Oh, we’ll never get to the Moon in our lifetime. It’s technically too difficult.’ So, to see this incredible event happening on television, something dad said was impossible, somehow made it all the more awe inspiring.” I knew I wanted to be a rock musician, but the Moon landing further confirmed that I needed to pursue astronomy as well. Some people say the space race, the Moon landing – oh, that stuff doesn’t matter. But it mattered to me." Ironically, May would go on to finish his studies in astrophysics and later receive a PhD.
Van Halen
-The Van Halen brothers, Eddie and Alex, were 14 and 16 at the time of the moon landing. Like most if not all musicians, they were taking any gig they could get, just to get their name out. Their debut album would not be released for another nine years
Lynyrd Skynyrd
-The famed Southern rockers were still going by the outlaw biker-styled name The One Percent in 1969. The end of that year saw their name change to Lynyrd Skynyrd, after their gym teacher at Robert E. Lee High School. This is where most of the band members attended school. It was supposed to mock the teacher, but it backfired. This gym teacher had repeatedly disciplined front man Ronnie Van Zandt for having long hair and so the name stuck. 1970 seen the now-familiar spelling of the name as well as their debut album, 'Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd,' being released
AC/DC
-George Young, older brother to AC/DC founding members Angus and Malcolm, had enjoyed some success with a group called the Easybeats. When Neil Armstrong touched down on the moon, the Easybeats broke up after several members moved to England. But things were looking up for his younger brothers Malcolm (16) and Angus (14). They were just starting to learn guitar because of having a family that embraced musical talent. A year later, Angus dropped out of high school to form AC/DC with his brother Malcolm in 1973. George was their producer for a while
Aerosmith
-In the summer of 1969, Steven Tyler was the 21 year old son of a Julliard-educated pianist. He was performing in a small band called Chain Reaction. This band had a modest following in the resort area of Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire. Another soon to be Aerosmith member was playing in another Lake Sunapee band called the Jam Band. It was a self-educated guitarist named Joe Perry. Both bands were playing at the same time. Unfortunately, they had missed the moon landing because both bands were trying to get off the ground. Initially, Tyler was not impressed by the Jam Band, but was impressed by Perry's guitar work on a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Rattlesnake Shake"
Lemmy Kilmister
-1969 was the year Ian Fraser Kilmister, soon to be known as "Lemmy Kilmister" or simply "Lemmy", was still bouncing from band to band. In 1969, he joined a band called Opal Butterfly. This would work out because it brought him into contact with Simon King, who would be in Hawkwind, the band Lemmy would join later. It would be until six years later that Motorhead was born.
Sting
-He had hopes of being a musician. He was 17 in 1969. He had started working in one of the various warehouses in one of the various local shipyards in his hometown of Wallsend, England. His first day was on July 21, 1969. It was less than 24 hours after the Americans had landed on the moon. 8 years would pass before he would move to Newcastle and form The Police with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers. Ironically, they would write a song in 1979 called "Walking on the Moon"

Shrek Forever After (2010)

This is the last film in the series.
Summary
-Shrek is having a mid life crisis and gets tricked by Rumpelstiltskin into being erased from time and history where Rumpelstiltskin rules supreme and Shrek and Fiona never met

Cast
-Mike Myers: Shrek
-Eddie Murphy: Donkey
-Cameron Diaz: Princess Fiona
-Antonio Banderas: Puss In Boots
-Julie Andrews: Queen Lillian
-John Cleese: King Harold
-Jon Hamm: Brogan
-Walt Dohrn: Rumpelstiltskin
-Jane Lynch: Gretched
-Craig Robinson: Cookie

Did You Know?
-This is the only Shrek film not to include original characters who do not feature somewhere in a fairy tale
-Fiona's parents had recommended Rumpelstiltskin by King Midas. In Greek mythology Midas wished for everything he touched to turn to gold. This would lead to tragedy because his daughter turned to gold and he died of starvation because any food or drink would turn to gold
-Since the movie deals with a crisis in Shrek and Fiona's marriage, several marriage counselors were brought on set to consult on how this would work with an animated movie
-One of the witch cronies for Rumpelstiltskin is named "Baba". This is a reference to Baba Yaga, a witch from Slavic/Russian folklore who supposedly lived in a house in the woods and stole children
-When it shows the trailer park where Rumpelstiltskin lives, there is a sign proclaiming "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here". This is said to be inscribed on the gates of Hell, according to the Dante Aligheri story The Divine Comedy, at least the first part, Dante's Inferno

Mama's Family

$

This is a show that was inspired by a skit on The Carol Burnett Show. On this show, the skit centered around a sarcastic little lady simply known as "Mama". She was played by Vicki Lawrence. She had a sister named Eunice who was played by Carol Burnett. Eunice's husband was played by Tim Conway. The show took place in a fictional Southern town called Raytown. IDK why, but this show is hilarious. I think the Southern accent Mama uses makes it funnier.
Summary
-Thelma "Mama" Harper is a sassy little lady who lives with her younger sister Fran and her outlandish family in the small Southern town of Raytown.

Cast
-Vicki Lawrence: Thelma "Mama" Crowley Harper
-Ken Berry: Vinton Harper
-Dorothy Lyman: Naomi Oates Harper
-Allan Kayser: Bubba Higgins
-Beverly Archer: Iola Lucille Boylen

Did You Know?
-Throughout the series, Mama always talked about her arch nemesis, a woman named Roselle Huplander, who was always mentioned but never seen. She always described this woman in various ways of being overweight
-When Mama was blamed for something, she always said "Don't lay this on my doorstep!"
-Throughout the series, Mama's neighbor Iola always wore pink. The only time she did not was at the funeral of Aunt Fran (Rue McClanahan). She wore a black dress with the same pattern as her famous pink dress
-Mama would always utter "uh oh" when she sensed trouble was nearby
-Mama would always utter "What kind of smut show is this?" when she thought something was dirty or obscene
-Carol Burnett, the mentor to Vicki Lawrence, talked her into doing the Mama's Family skit, saying "You have to do this!"
-The town the show takes place in, Raytown, is an actual town in Missouri.
-Every business in Raytown has some variation of the town name. McDonald's is McRay's. The town's fancy restaurant is called Chez Ray. They have two newspapers-the Bugle and Courier
-In the last episode of the show, Naomi gave birth to a daughter she named Tiffany Thelma
-The show ended because Vicki Lawrence wanted to leave the series. She did not want to become typecast as sassy talking Mama

This is going to be a long list, rofl!!!

Music
-I LOVE MUSIC! I am constantly listening to it, discovering new artists if I can and going to concerts, either me and my sister or me, my sister, stepdad and mom. At least two of the tattoos I have are music-related. One is on my left shoulder. It's of music notes surrounding the quote "Let It Be". It's for both my love of music, the motto in life I live by and my love of Beatles music. I'll be having another music tattoo installed on the inside of my left calf on 9/7/19. It'll be of a Fender Precision bass guitar next to an amplifier. This one will also be for my love of music and the bass guitar being my favorite instrument. It's so underrated. Even though I don't play this instrument, I still think it's pretty cool. How often do you hear about kids aspiring to be a bass guitarist? Very rare. It's more often kids want to shred on a guitar like Eddie Van Halen, Trent Reznor or James Hetfield

Cute English guys
-What can I say? I know it's cliched that I'm an American girl falling for English accents on guys, but it's a very handsome accent. It's very formal, classy and just straight sexy coming from a guy, rofl. That must explain why most of the romance novels I read, both in e-book and paper form, surround some aspect of Britain, rofl!!

-And as for male beauty, I am of the firm mindset that everyone sees beauty differently and I happen to look at some guys and say they still look handsome for their ages, despite the fact that some think people have aged like sour milk. I look at some guys and think they are still handsome for their age, despite gray hair, wrinkles or other marks. Some people question why and how I could think some guys are attractive when others think they look like crap. Like the old saying: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". But, according to some, my opinion of beauty is looking at screwed up in the rearview mirror

Richard Hammond (Top Gear. Known as "The Hamster" because of his short height and hyperactive personality)
I love watching Top Gear because I learn so much about cars and laugh until it hurts because the three presenters always sabotage one or the other's car. No man is safe on that show from pranks. I think a lot of women probably watch this show only because they think Richard Hammond is cute. Sadly, me and my sister are among them, but we also watch the show because it's good, funny and you learn about cars!
Rick Savage (Def Leppard bassist and backing vocalist)
I think he's still handsome for his age. From interviews I've seen, he is such a kind, loving person. No ego whatsoever! And for him to battle Bell's Palsy and come back from it, good for him! I'm happy to hear that he has beaten it!!

Dave Murray (Iron Maiden lead guitarist, 1975-present)
I love his personality. He's not arrogant at all. He's a rare breed of Rockstar-no ego, just kind, down to earth, friendly. That's why he's my favorite. No ego!! He seems like such a warm, loving person

Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden vocalist, 1982-1992, 2000-present).
I read his book, What Does This Button Do? An Autobiography and it was good. I love his little random thoughts in there. I think he is still handsome for his age, despite the long gray hair kept back in a ponytail. For being 60-something years old and still be able to move around and sing like he does, is amazing! I also find it funny that he speaks his mind, no matter what!!

Steve Harris (Iron Maiden bassist/founding member, 1975-present)
IDK why people say this man is arrogant. Opinionated? Yes. Demanding? Definitely. But there's a method to his madness. He's in a band that is at the top tier of the metal world, a band he created! And he's trying to keep it going with a good bunch of guys. So if to keep it going he has to be demanding and opinionated, then so be it!

Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple bassist/backing vocalist 1974-1976, Trapeze (early band), Black Country Communion and California Breed (both had him on bass and vocals)
Despite his odd choices in clothing, he's still pretty handsome. Especially the rough time he had trying to get off drugs

Glenn Tipton (Judas Priest guitarist/backing vocalist)
I think he's still attractive for his agf=e

Reading
-I am constantly reading. Sometimes, I'll read and re-read books that I've read hundreds or dozens of times. IDK why I do this; I know how they'll end, but for some reason, I like to think that some of the books I own and read show a little of my personality, show who I am. IDK why, but when I was younger, like most kids, I hated reading. I thought it was boring. Until I grew up and found things I wanted to read about. Now all I do in my spare time is read. I'll read and re-read the same books sometimes because they're just that good. Sometimes I'll read books over because I'm in the mood for them. I just got done reading On the Edge: My Story by Richard Hammond. Still, no matter how many times I read it, a great book!
My Family
-They may drive me crazy, but I love them dearly and would not have it any other way. We are crazy. What other group of people constantly get on the topic of Monty Python and The Holy Grail? Or My Family, the popular, comedic BBC program that my own family seems to eerily mirror just a bit too close?

-Let me tell you a little bit about my family. My sister Jessica, aka Jessie, is your definite straight punk rocker. Black is her preferred clothing color, leading my mom, Brenda and stepdad Greg, to dub her either Ritchie Blackmore or Johnny Cash. She loves reading romance novels, mostly surrounding biker clubs or handsome tattooed men. She works for US Bank as a mortgage default counselor, meaning she helps people get on payment plans to pay their mortgage. My mom Brenda works for an independent loan company called Stockton Mortgage. She works with TPO (third party originators) to help people get loans for things. She loves reading when she has the time. She reads biker-related novels and tattooed-related novels like my sister, but my mom reads the tattooed guy novels for an entirely different reason than my sister. She loves to clean and cook, with us right there helping her. She can get on me and my sister's nerves sometimes, being strongly opinionated as she is and not holding back. She can be downright brutal in her opinions, but we have to love her. She's our mother. She and our stepdad Greg have been together for nearly 13 years, but friends for over 20. Our stepdad Greg, I swear, must have been British in a previous life. Most of his favorite musicians are British, he watches the English Premier League football (soccer), at least 2-3 of the TV shows he watches are British. But. because of him, me and my sister discovered the shows My Family and Top Gear. We discovered bands like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Eve 6, Green Day, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foreigner, Bad Company, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Genesis, Phil Collins, Georgia Satellites and more.

Travelling
-I want to travel so badly. But the places I dream of going to cost an exorbitant amount of money. London, for starters, you have to know how to eat, drink and stay local like the locals do. Ask the locals the best and cheapest place to stay, eat and drink. What are the best places to go for not a lot of money? Anyway, I want to travel to so many amazing places. The only way to do that is to work hard and earn a lot of $$$$$$

I've never been in love or been the subject of a crush. So, for this one, I am unsure. But I'll give it a shot

Also, I'm the kind of person who usually ends up keeping people at arm's length until I feel I can trust them. I trust no one unless I feel that person is legit. Over the years, I've had so much issue trusting people because when I do trust them, they let me down or they burn me and that makes me lose faith in humanity.

Dogs
-I love love love dogs!! Dogs are one surefire way to get to me. I want to spoil dogs rotten with love. I've always loved the big dogs, like Chocolate/Black/Labrador/Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Irish/Russian Wolfhounds, Irish Setters, Great Danes, Mastiffs, St. Bernard's, Australian Cattle Dogs, Australian Collies. As for little dogs, the only little dogs I love are Corgis, Pugs, English Bulldogs. If someone wants me to like them, they have to be passionate about their love of animals. They have to love animals and know how to treat them with love and respect. Anyone who hates animals or abuses them should stay off my radar!

And as a side point, I love dogs because you never know what they're thinking or are going to do. They can do some of the funniest things on the planet and they always know how to cheer you up. Not only that, they sometimes have the funniest expressions on their faces. Another side point: I know it's cliched that I am a girl and girls are suckers for dogs, but I just love their little furry faces. I just want to cuddle with them and comfort them during storms

Day 3-Your Definition of Love

I've never been the object of affection from the opposite sex nor have I ever had a boyfriend or gone out on a date. So for this one, I am truly unsure of what I could say
https://never3nding.tumblr.com/post/2660644142/tumblr-30-day-challenge

I suppose the only things I could say would be that my definition of love is finding someone who appreciates you for who you are. Someone who has at least one or two or more things in common. Someone who gets your way of thinking, makes you laugh until it hurts, is there for you when you are sad. Someone who can not only be your true love, but your best friend. Sometimes best friends up making the best relationships. My mom and stepdad are a great example. They started out as friends but then fell for each other and are going strong 13 years later.

I suppose that if love is truly meant for me, I wouldn't mind meeting someone who has something in common with me, makes me feel good about myself without having some sort of ulterior motive, someone I can make feel good about themselves, someone to laugh with, to cry with. Someone to be the rock of strength when I need it and for me to do the same in return.

Beauty
-I really wish I could be beautiful. Sometimes I feel like I am the ugly sister of Georgia May Jagger because of my full lips. My own biological father always laughed and joked around about my full lips, calling me things like Jagger Mouth, saying I had a mouth like Mick Jagger. I wish I was beautiful. I wish someone would tell me so without having to feel compelled to do so. I've spent so much of my life being told I was ugly that I am to the point where I almost, literally, see ugly in the mirror looking back

Beanie Babies
-This one is my favorite. I wish I had a lot of Beanie Babies. I think they are so cute!! I love hugging them after a hard day at work. The only downside is room to put them all. There's a lot of them that are cute and a lot of them I want!! I already have a multitude of them and yet I always look for more. Among them my favorites are Floyd the Frog, a cute little bright green overly fuzzy frog with bright green eyes. Another of my favorites is Cornstalk the Cow because I love cows. Another of my favorites that I own is Freckles the Leopard.

This one is called Angus the West Highland Cow. Of course I want it; it's on my wish list. It's a cow!!!

Travelling: The Next Great Confidence Builder

$
0
0
We all may or may not have issues with confidence. Some are happy go lucky, confidence off the charts. Others may be more reticent, shy, not a lot of confidence. Did you know that travelling can build up that confidence? Here's how.

1. You develop better financial skills
-When you have those destinations in mind, you tend to start saving up. You become more financially savvy. Everyone knows that to travel, you need a lot of $$$$. If you can budget yourself on vacation, odds are high that you can budget yourself back home. When you're away on vacation, it's probably a knee jerk reaction to buy anything that looks cool. The most important thing is to know how much money you are going to need to survive the trip. If you can carefully manage the money you have to be able to get everything you need for your trip, you will be good and you can transfer these skills into everyday life. One piece of advice-when travelling through Europe, Australia, Asia, there are no such things as "all inclusive". This term refers to something that a lot of tropical destinations engage in. It means everything is paid for. The only money you bring is for tips and souvenirs.
2. Learning a foreign language
-Everyone at one point or another in their life has been interested in learning a foreign language. I know I have and I know I am. It's said that through learning a foreign language you are looking at the world through a new set of eyes. Taking a class on foreign languages is great, but what is even greater is talking to the locals, engaging in conversation with them and asking them what words mean in their language. They will be more than flattered that you are taking an interest in their culture and language and be more than willing to help. Learning a new language helps you learn how interact with your surroundings in new ways. You will have an increased capacity for action and doing things and as such, you can tackle challenges easier
3.Independence
-There is a vast world of difference between travelling as a group and going solo. When going solo, you essentially have to become a jack-of-all-trades, a sort of Bear Grylls-type person to survive. Not to the extent of Bear Grylls, but you will need the skills necessary to solve problems should they come your way. Knowing how to do basics such as sew, cook, fix a bike, camp or even drive will boost your confidence ten fold and let you know you can survive

4. Meeting new people
-For some, the shy people mostly, meeting new people is a daunting task. What do you say to start the conversation? Unless your itinerary is camping in a wooded area, odds are high that you will be meeting other people. It's mind blowing the way humans interact with other humans. Anthropologists would have a field day studying humans and their interactions with other humans, rofl. If you are travelling to a country where English is not the primary language, it could look like a jumbled mess. It'll be almost to the point of frustration to reach some point of understanding between you and the other person, but the reward is worth going for. Getting to know others and their way of life shows that person you are taking interest in their culture. Most if not all people are flattered when people take interest in their culture. Talking to others and meeting new people can help you recognize the sensitivities and desires of other people. You can even have the confidence to help change someone's life for the better. And in the process, even make a new friend or two

Day 5-Something You Miss

This will be short
https://never3nding.tumblr.com/post/2660644142/tumblr-30-day-challenge

I miss my grandmother. My grandmother was named Rose Whetstein. She's my stepdad's mom. Even though I know she's our grandmother only through marriage, she was more of a grandmother to me and my sister than my biological father's mother was. My biological father's mother treated us horribly. My stepdad's mom Rose was goofy, but we loved her. She was a probably stereotypically devout Italian Catholic who started each day and ended each day with saying her prayers off heavily worn cards. She loved St. Francis, the patron saint of animals. Her backyard was a regular menagerie of animals. She had bumblebees from the various beautiful flowers planted, at least three or four dogs over the course of her life, one named Pooker who was a Collie-type dog, another named Pudgy who was a mutt, one named Bandit who was a Blue Tickhound-type dog and finally Abby, an Australian Shepherd-Collie mix. All had their own various personalities. Bandit thought he was human and ate as such. He ate before everyone else. When my stepdad was growing up, he said that his mother always fed the dogs first, claiming "they can't feed themselves!" And this extended over to the house she lived and died in, in Delhi Township, where me, my mom and stepdad and sister live. When Bandit first came home, we couldn't go over because Bandit didn't like kids. It was because this trio of kids across the street would torture him. When we showed Bandit how much we loved dogs, by giving him endless belly rubs and ear scratches, he began to trust us and starting using his cute doggy powers to win us over. It was sad, losing him to an infection. But, both me and my sister considered her more of a grandmother to us than our biological grandmother. Our grandmother Rose would always hint at food by saying or asking "Are you hungry?""Did you eat yet?" My sister would laugh and say "Yeah, I'm hungry. What would you like?" But, all in all, me and my sister miss our grandmother

Day 6-Something You've Always Had a Problem With

This will be interesting
https://never3nding.tumblr.com/post/2660644142/tumblr-30-day-challenge

I've always had issues with self-confidence and self-esteem. Me and my sister have. Growing up with a set of parents like ours will do that. Me and my sister had unusual parents. What I mean is our biological father bullied us. He called us names, made fun of us, stole from us, did everything to his own kids that you are not supposed to do. He stole the small cross I got for my first communion and pawned it for cigarette money. He would steal the tip money and paycheck money my sister earned from her job in an ice cream shop for cigarettes. He would call my sister gorilla arms or orangutan arms because she had hair on her arms that would remind you of an ape. Because of that, she took to shaving her arms and had to hide it from our mother. She noticed and my sister was hesitant to tell her. She spilled the beans and our mom nearly killed our dad for that. She yelled at him something fierce. There's a lot he did and said to us that we were afraid to tell our mom. Mostly it was out of fear of retaliation or the simple fact he would yell at us and punish us, telling us "You two never keep anything secret!" or "What happens in this house stays in this house!" As for me, he would call me Billy Bass Lips, Jagger Mouth because I happen to have very full lips, like Mick Jagger. It used to make me so mad. When I was in college and he was home, he would sometimes offer to drive me to school. This was only after I said I was leaving to catch the bus and he said "Don't do that. I'll drive you." Every time he did this, I walked into class 10 minutes before it was due to start, instead of already being up there at least a half hour to an hour before it started. He made me almost late to class each time he "offered" to drive. This was because he was playing a video game and didn't want to stop. I had to keep nagging him just to get his response. The only reason we didn't move in with our mom and stepdad is we wanted to finish school. We didn't have to worry about leaving friends behind; we both had hardly any.

When we were younger, if we said we wanted to go into a certain field later on, our dad would tell us, something to the effect of "No matter how hard you work at it, it'll never happen." Or "It's useless having dreams because they never come true" or "You two are better off just working some 9-5 job just to earn money and pay bills, like NORMAL people do". When we were younger, my sister wanted to be a firefighter. She was obsessed with the movie Backdraft and she read anything and everything about the firefighting industry. I, however, wanted to go into medicine. So, essentially, we both wanted to be first responders of a sort. Our dad told us that both jobs would be dangerous and costly to go into. He told me that I was better off not doing that because I would be in school forever and then I would have to decide a specialty in nursing or medicine and even then I'd be debt until I'm dead. He told my sister that she better change her mind; firefighting is dangerous and life threatening. She knew this and didn't care; she loved the saving people and helping people aspect of it. Same goes with me and medicine. Suffice to say, you don't say this to your own kids when they already are planning their careers. Suffice to say, we are not in the first responder industry; we are both working jobs just to pay bills and having to take the simple joy in doing things like concerts or vacations. To be honest, I think our dad hated us. I think he thought of us as being an obstacle to whatever job he wanted to do.

As for our biological mother, she is opinionated to the point of brutality. She will be brutally honest with you and if it hurts your feelings, oh well, suck it up buttercup is what you will be told. She thinks that people need to be able to take the truth and not be a baby about it. Truth hurts is something she seems to live by. I have always had the feeling, and my sister shares this same feeling too, that our mom blames us for keeping her from going to medical school to become a nurse.

Twisted Sister Frontman Dee Snider Blasts NFL

That's right. You read this right. Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider blasts NFL

It was decided that for this upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show that the artist in question to perform would be Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. This is not sitting well with legendary Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider. He expressed his strong disapproval at this, saying that one of the biggest events of the year is, once again, ignoring hard rock and heavy metal, despite the fact that some of these artists' songs can be heard playing in the background

He tweeted "WTF!? @shakira and @jlo for this year's @nfl halftime show!? Once again the great heavy music that rocks the stadiums week after week, game after game is completely ignored. I guess we don't shake our ass enough!!"

These words echo what he tweeted earlier after this year's performance by Maroon 5. He listed ten songs from legendary acts like Queen, AC/DC, Guns 'N' Roses, Twisted Sister that get crowds on their feet and their fists pumping. But these household names get overlooked when it comes to the halftime show.

He tweeted again "Hey @NFL! Your go-to songs at EVERY game are metal. 'Enter Sandman,''Cum On Feel the Noise,''Thunder[struck],''Crazy Train,''We're Not Gonna Take It,''We Are the Champions,''Final Countdown,''I Wanna Rock,''We Will Rock You,''Welcome to Jungle.' NONE of those bands have EVER played half-time show!"

22 Benefits of Seeing Live Concerts

I think I shall be investing my time in concerts!!
1. Moving Around and Dancing
-There is nothing more enjoyable than dancing and singing your favorite songs by your favorite band while seeing them live. You will sing every word at the top of your lungs and dance like no one is watching. The upside? Exercise! You'll be burning calories in no time! Studies show that you can burn 400+ calories dancing at concerts!!

2. Stress Reduction
-Everyone has stressors in their life. Those people or things that just make you mad and angry. Musical events such as concerts reduce the amount of cortisol, known as the "stress hormone" from being released. According to a study from Imperial College in London, 117 applicants for an experiment involving listening to wind instruments noted that their blood pressure, heart rate were lower, their breathing rate reduced, thus inducing a calm feeling

3. Mood changer
-Everyone loves live music events. Did you know this can uplift your mood? It can put a smile on your face listening to those classic rock or metal guitars, the pounding drums, that deep soulful sound of the bass and other instruments on stage

4. Come Together/Join Together
-Not to reference a Beatles or Who song, but going to concerts allows a feeling of togetherness. You and hundreds of other fans can join together to sing the songs. Everyone is there to see their favorite musician and nothing makes you feel more warm and fuzzy inside than knowing that everyone is there with the same level of dedication

5. Constant concerts
-You don't have to hang around the big name venues. There are always concerts in parks going on, concerts at small, intimate venues going on. Heck, there is usually even music coming from people busking on the street

6. Improve your well-being
-According to a study made by Deakin University in Australia in 2016, studies found that people who attended concerts regularly are happier in their every day lives. It improves their mental health and that people who attended concerts with a boyfriend/girlfriend had improved relationships

7. Discover new bands
-Odds are high that when you go to see a band perform, they are going to have at least 1-2 support acts on prior. These are invaluable because you can discover new music from there. There is an undying and unlimited amount of music out there, just waiting to find new fans. Each day a group of people somewhere are forming bands hoping to get found. Support acts are great because they might be similar to the band you're there to see but their own take on things. For example, if you go to see Led Zeppelin and they have Greta Van Fleet opening, that would be interesting. It would be old school Zeppelin with new school Zeppelin because Greta Van Fleet's front man sounds like Robert Plant. Or going to see Iron Maiden and the opening acts being As Lions/The Raven Age/Lauren Harris. You get legendary Iron Maiden with soon to be legendary The Raven Age (like Metallica only British and with more aggression in their music for those unfamiliar with the name), Lauren Harris (like Joan Jett except British and hard rock instead of punk), As Lions (very melodic metal)
-And what's even better is that if you attend a concert and you're an aspiring musician yourself, like a beginner bassist/drummer/guitarist/vocalist, you can do some research into the various types of equipment out there, like Fender Precision Bass guitars/Fender Stratocasters, Ludwig/Paiste/Pearl drums and cymbals, etc.

8. You're My Inspiration
-Not to be pun-y and quote a Chicago song, but sometimes concerts provide that extra little push of inspiration for some to take up an instrument, such as the bass, guitar, drums, vocals, keyboard, etc. If you've ever wanted to play an instrument, attend a concert and it might just give you that get up and go to start down the wonderful path to music!!

9. Nonstop energy
-The chemical for happiness is dopamine. When you go to a concert, that chemical is just flat out flooding your body. You get giddy, excited, you can feel goosebumps and a general electric feeling of excitement

10. Pain killer
-Not to quote a Judas Priest song, but studies show that concerts and live music events can produce an anesthetic effect on you, thus reducing pain. This works because the chemicals responsible for happiness, dopamine and endorphins, are released, thus blocking pain

11. Reflection
-When you hear a song on your music device or in your car, it will take you back to when you first heard that song

12. Appreciation
-We all have stressers in our life. Those concerts are not only for going to see your favorite musician, they are also a chance to just forget about life for a while and have fun

13. Meet and Greets
-Some bands do meet and greets. This is the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet your favorite musicians. Most if not all people would give their left arm to do so (I know I would with Judas Priest and Iron Maiden). Sometimes what makes it better is that if the band you are meeting and greeting has gotten you through some tough times in your life. Being able to get a photograph or an autograph from that musician is something you'll cherish forever!

14. Affordable Yet Fun
-While a vacation may be fun, it can also be expensive. So can a majority of concerts. Music festivals can also be expensive. You can have fun and check out local music events without destroying your bank account in the process

15. Meet new people
-Everywhere there are opportunities to meet new people. Concerts just so happen to be a big benefit for this one. When you're at a concert, you are surrounded by thousands of people already have at least one thing similar to you. So it's not rocket science to strike up a conversation and meet new people, make new friends.

16. Escape!
-While this is similar to the appreciation factor, doing the same thing day in and day out can really wear you down. Sometimes all you need is some loud music, some loud guitar, rumbling drums, calming bass and some good singing to bring you back to life

17. Something to look forward to
-Everyone looks forward to concerts, whether it be a big name artist, a tribute band or a local event. There is so much excitement and fun in planning things like this. Like if a concert you want to attend is out of town, there's the fun (and slight stress) of booking a hotel if it takes too long to get there, getting tickets, transportation, directions to the venue, etc. This excitement just keeps building and building until the event comes and then you're like a chain reaction approaching critical mass-you're ready to blow!!

18. The Nostalgia Effect
-There is an effect in science called the Nostalgia Effect. This occurs when you think back on memories that were enjoyable from your past and they become more and more enjoyable when you think about them.

19. A very unique experience
-Concerts are sometimes once-in-a-lifetime. You may or may never see that musician again. They are truly once-in-a-lifetime. It's very rare and very lucky to be able to see the same musician more than once. I can at least say that I've seen a few bands more than once. Deep Purple in 2017 and 2018 on their Infinite tour, both times at Riverbend Music Center. Judas Priest in 2015 at Rock on the Range on their 2015 Redeemer of Souls tour and in 2018 on their Firepower tour at Riverbend Music Center. Def Leppard in 2014 on their Kiss of Def tour at Riverbend Music Center and in 2018 on their anniversary tour at US Bank Arena. Kiss in 2014 on their Kiss of Def tour at Riverbend Music Center and in 2019 on their End of the Road tour at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH.

20. A personal connection with the artist
-Every DVD, whether it's of a film or concert or even tour, will provide little insights into the bands, the meanings behind the songs or whatever else. And...let's not forget. That before those musicians became household names, they were fans, just like you, raging and jamming to the musician whose concert they were attending. They were fans once upon a time, getting excited about going to see their favorite musician in concert.

21. Social Connections getting upgraded
-Odds are high that when you go to a concert, you'll be going with friends or family (I know for a fact that sounds exactly like me! I go with family to concerts!). This is a great way to get families involved with each other and it's safe. Plus, people watching alone is worth it! It's also safer and more exciting than a night at home playing board games or a night at the bar.

22. Ticket stubs!!
-Not every band will issue ticket stubs. Some have recently been going with electronic tickets or e-tickets. Where you need a phone with internet access to have a special code to get you in. I speak like this because this is exactly what I had to do to get me and family in to see Iron Maiden in August. Anyway, ticket stubs from concerts are a special keepsake that should be cherished. We all like to have those little reminders that we went to see such and such in concert and the memories with it. You can frame them, put them in a binder or a shoebox. No matter what, keep every little reminder of the concerts you went to in addition to the multitude of souvenirs you probably bought that night.

Day 7-What You Hate Most

I hate a lot of things. Here are some...

Racism
-I've always hated racism. Why do we all have to hate? If people think that racism died out in the 1960s, you're wrong. Racism is still alive and well and getting stronger every day. People want to hate others simply because they are different. Because they practice different religions. Because they love same sex people rather than opposite sex people. Because they speak different languages or are of a different ethnicity or come from a different country. It pains me to know that this still exists. It makes me cry when I hear just how brutal some people can be simply because someone is different. My mother and father may have been racist, but thankfully they raised me and my sister to be very open and tolerant of everyone. I am so thankful of that. If I going to not like someone, it's not going to be based on their skin color or race. It's going to be because they did something to me to make me lose my respect and trust for them.

Bullying
-As a victim of bullying herself, I can say I hate it. Me and my sister hate it. Our own father bullied us growing up, in addition to classmates doing it. We were made fun of for everything and it's no wonder we have trust issues. We don't trust anyone, which is why we are both single. We have self-esteem and self-confidence issues. We both worry about what someone is thinking about us.

Showing off a lot of $$$
-What I mean is when you hear about these musicians, athletes, actors and others with a lot of money buying all this expensive stuff, probably just to show off. If I had even half the money that these people had, I would spend on things that I needed. Like home improvements for the house me, my mom, stepdad and sister live in. I would take my family on a weeklong trip to Tahiti because my mom and stepdad love it there. I would donate some to charity. I would use it for good. It makes me sick to hear about how some of these people are blowing all their money on expensive crap they don't need. It's just like the lottery. These people win millions and billions and they spend, spend, spend and before they know it, they're living on the streets, homeless. It just pains me to think about how some people can spend like there's no tomorrow when I am working a regular job and can only dream of doing things sometimes. I can only dream of travelling the world, but it costs a lot of money and I have to save up a lot. Basic point-it's stupid to spend money like that. It's ridiculous!!

This is another book in the famous Harris Brothers series by Amy Daws. Instead of the Harris Brothers, it focuses on their young cousin Alice "Allie" Harris, who lives in Chicago
Summary
-Alice "Allie" Harris deserves better. After finding her stepsister in bed with her boyfriend, Allie wants payback. Big time. She manages to have a one-night stand with a hot South African footballer named Roan DeWalt, who plays on Bethnal Green FC, the same team as her English-born cousins Camden and Tanner. When she records the video, as a way of getting payback at her boyfriend, her stepsister somehow gets ahold of the video and sends it viral. Because of this, her angry cousins Camden, Tanner, Booker and Gareth are ready to rip Roan limb from limb until they see how much he truly cares for their little cousin Allie.
